Hi there,

So this blog is a wee bit old, but I am in dire need of advice. I am a part time worker as I have a small child and my husband works full time. We don't have a lot of money and are regularly behind on bills. A few weeks ago it was bucketing down with rain and my daughter needed to get out, so I thought I would splurge and spend the $6 entry fee and take her to Club Kids indoor play centre in Earlwood, NSW. I parked on Collingwood Ave just outside the parking lot on Homer Lane. I made sure I left room so as not to obstruct traffic. I tripple checked for signage and found none at all. There were inspectors in the parking lot and I just grabbed my daughter and headed in to Club Kids, whilst they watched with baited breath and then pounced like vultures. I came back and and there was nothing on my car. About a week ago I received a reminder notice!!! I have been fined for the 10m within intersection without traffic lights rule and my fine is a hefty $206. I demanded the photos that were taken and the rear of my car is just over 4m from the curb. What is the definition of an intersection? As far as I was a aware it was where two roads with cars travelling both ways crossed or met. Is a lane way considered a road if only one car can travel down it? I honestly believe that I have not done anything wrong and I would like to contest this, but I am concerned about how much that will cost me. This is nothing but some traffic warden filling his quota for the day and raising revenue. Would love to hear some feedback.

I am a foreign tourist and I parked my relative's car in Carlisle Street yesterday, as I thought in a safe and suitable place. I was trying my very best to follow all the local regulations. I had thought the area well signed as to where one could or could not park. I returned to find a "stopped within 10m of intersection" fine for $122 from Port Phillip Council officer ID 726. I was parked one car length away from a T-junction with Mitchell Street, a little used side road, so I cannot contest the offence. From the timing of the parking ticket s/he might have even watched me park there. I am in favour of parking wardens, but they need to apply the law sensibly. I am disappointed to discover that what I consider a diligent safe driver, trying to follow the rules, is caught by the system and becomes an “offender” with a $122 fine to pay. However, that is evidently the way they do it in Australia.

I recieved a parking fine on Cadell Pl, Wagga Wagga.
Offence 8466 Stop within 10 metres of an intersection without traffic lights, with a penalty of $206.
Cadell Pl, is only a one way rear access lane for businesses facing Fitzmaurice street. I work at a business on Fitzmaurice street and have so for the past 2 ½ years. In this time I have parked in the exact same spot and never received a fine or warning of any kind.
If this rule applies to Cadell pl (one-way rear access lane), then I question why the car parked in front of mine, which was also outside the 10 metre distance was not also fined?

Hey mate,

I recieved a $201 fine for supposedly parking 10m within an intersection with no traffic lights. There was no intersection, the lane was a dogleg, a curved laneway. Where i had parked there was a sign saying 2hrs parking forward of the sign, but nothing denoting that i couldn't park behind the sign.

2 days after receiving my fine, the sign was changed to 2hrs parking infont of the sign and to the rear of the sign all the way to the curve in the road. Have i been given an illegal infringement notice? I've already spent approximately $30 worth of phone calls to the local council and the state debt recovery office. Unfortunately i was told to write a letter.

I would like to know where an intersection is measured from -
Been booked parking outside my house - I think I was well within the allowable area, but don't know how to prove it as the fine came in the mail $201 - I have taken photos but can't prove where my car was - do they always take photos when they book you and if so could I request a copy?

Hey Geordie, don't you remember that song you made up when you were little - "I wish I was a farmer, a farmer, a farmer....." See it came true - well for a little while anyway. What a hoot! And yes be very sorry about that ridiculous bit of speeding - you should know better!

HI there - waaaaaay too much alcohol and absolutely too much nicotine for my liking - when will you give it up????But sounds like fun. Now if you had allowed my most recent comment you would have learnt that 'wonder' and 'wander' are two different verbs. 'wander' means to meander, stroll or walk in a leisurely fashion. 'wonder' means "WTF?" So just remember you are not WTFing to look at something you are 'wandering' over to have look. Love your posts - Mum
